Adjust font size:  ZoomIn ZoomOut

Edited by Zhang Changren

Hardcover: 1,130 pages

Publisher: Foreign Languages Press (2005)

Language: English

Contents: To meet the demand for learning Chinese abroad, A Chinese-English Dictionary of Classic and Current Expressions has been published by Foreign Languages Press.

The new dictionary is a masterpiece by Zhang Changren (1911-2003), formerly a veteran scholar of the Beijing Research Institute of Culture and History, who devoted himself to the publication for 38 years.

The dictionary includes nearly 50,000 entries in both traditional and simplified Chinese. It covers idiomatic four-character phrases (chengyu), ancient couplets, proverbs and contemporary expressions in culture, politics, economy and art. It is also of great help for English learners in China.
